Guess what. You know me naman di ba? I had to post it in a blog, for it would be tiring to type this in every single blog concerning the spontaneous reactions to the issue that was apparently closed until resurrected again by the Principal. A lot of people, even the Philippine Star, are getting the story wrong. Number One: The Philippine Star kinda erred in their News Feature [link: http://philstar.com/Article.aspx?ArticleId=432136], which points that the blog the admin is talking about is scientiaetvirtus.multiply.com but in fact, the persona/s behind that multiply account are still unknown. Thus, the school cannot suspend him/them. Rather, the four students made their own blogs which the Principal did not like. Only that of eufems.multiply.com had its concerned articles removed, but the three others whose contents are most likely preserved are that of mychaelmiravite.multiply.com, ihateflattery.multiply.com, and oneonesix.multiply.com I repeat, the urls of the accounts of these 4 students are eufems.multiply.com, mychaelmiravite.multiply.com, ihateflattery.multiply.com, and oneonesix.multiply.com, not scientiaetvirtus.multiply.com Number Two: Have you heard Trisha Zafra's report that the blogs contain only song spoofs and titles? People have erred in generalizing Trisha Zafra's report about these comedic things. In fact, Zafra could have reported about only one of the four. As far as I know, only that of eufems.multiply.com contain song spoofs and titles [which were deleted late November last year], and as far as I can analyze, that report was only based on the blogger behind it, thinking that as a former Malikhaing Pagsulat student, he believes that he has the liberty of using satire. The other bloggers, having been journalists, have based theirs on truth and just added a little spice [which were their reactions], and are in essay form. I repeat, only that of eufems.multiply.com contain song spoofs and titles. The others have theirs in essay form. Number Three: It was not Ms. Sadsad who wanted the problem televised. All I know is that she is not the one who called the media. However, as I ask permission from the one who talked to Trisha Zafra in the first place, I withhold some information about this until it is Ok. The TV Report seemed too pro-Sadsad probably because the super numerous reasons why the bloggers blogged could consume a lot of time if shown on air and thus is impractical. Also, I think that Trisha Zafra was not able to talk to the bloggers, so she wasn't able to get their sides clearly. I hope you understand why the informations were vague. However, I would not let beloved GMA-7 get tainted by prejudice from misinformation. However, it is not that pure pro-Sadsad. It was able to quote Undersecretary Franklin Zunga, who said: “We have to be very careful about punishing students for what they are going to write because of the constitutional right of all persons, including the students, the right of the freedom of expression and of the speech. Public officials should not have onion skin. They should be more tolerant about criticism"
I hope and think Zunga is pro-freedom.
***
Please pray for these bloggers to fight these undermining of freedom of expression and to win their *excuse me, our* battle for freedom.
God Bless Them God Bless Us God Bless QueSci
Animo Scientia!

 | naharang na ung suspension
great for you,...no, great for quesci |
 | oo nga anton. llamado tayo. [namisinterpret ata ni anton] |

[ibig sabihin niya, great for you, ay wait, sa buong kisay pala] |
 | who the fuck taught the two of you english? anyway, unfortunately for you, news agencies can not edit audience perception...pero kung may maikakatwiran kayo against the reporter, yun ay nagmistula lang siyang taga-relay ng opinion...nakuhaan nga both sides ng opinion nila, pero hindi naman talaga naireport kung bakit nga ba nasuspend yung mga estudyante...pahapyaw lang yung pagtukoy dun...
sa halip, ang inireport ay tanging yung desisyon at ang laman ng report ay puro opinion...sa labanan ng opinyon, ang nanalo diyan, yung pinakama-appeal sa neutrality...pag halimbawa sinabi mong "matalino na sila, puso na lang ang kailangan", tulad ng ginawa nung principal niyo, she was not only trying to convince the reporter, but also trying to appeal to all parents, the conservatives, and everyone else who favor sentimentality over rational thinking (can you count how many people support pacqiuao only because of their simplistic understanding of nationalism?), to sympathize with her...compare that to the commnt of the parents and zunga, which were, at least to me, straight...eh yung sa principal, halatang nang-iispin lang eh...kung bakit kasama yun sa report, aba'y pwedeng kasalanan nung editor, nung mismong reporter, o nilang dalawa.....we all know, of course, that the process of editing entails selection...a conscious one, that is...
and kid, freedom has become a cheap word...try to help restore its dignity by not using it on some petty stuff such as this...got it? maging empirical next time...huwag masyadong maging mapusok...may future ka...hehehe... |

I think this person's take on the issue is interesting. After all, if we oppose an issue, we should be graceful about it.
However: it is easy to get carried away with emotion, true, but merely having the wrong style does not make a person's stance wrong. I will admit that Ma'am Sadsad appeals well with the line stated above. The problem is that the news was extremely one-sided, cited incorrect facts, and in truth, failed to address the situation properly. So using only those details, it is easy to believe in only one perspective.
Freedom has indeed become a cheap word, one that is overused and completely abused. Another word that has become cheap? Responsibility. "Blog with responsibility", "react with responsibility"... the question is, how bad did the situation at their school get before it reached this point? Why would four students, who belong to one of the most prestigious schools in the nation, complain about their school? And why would a great number of alumni and even certain members of faculty sympathize with their point of view?
These are valid questions. I do agree, though, that this blog got carried away. What I do not yet agree with is that the underlying emotions of this blog are wrong. |

They expect journalism-level precision from the blog of an Malikhaing Pagsulat student. I don't get it. And the reports may seem to be one-sided, but I hope in some miracle they redeem themselves. And that means, an interview with us. On cam. But not necessarily live. |
 | Madami pa lang agree sa atin ahh! :)) |
 | Do not say gudluck sa inyo...Kasi alam niyo naman kung nasa kanino naman ang tagumpay ng ginawa ninyo. You are just telling the people "web surfers" (be it alumni or not) the situation that you are into.
Justice will be served to you I know that..May the spirit of student activism be with you always...Karapatan ng kabataan ang edukasyon....Basta tama at wasto ang inyong pinagsasabi..I am not your enemy....hence call me you ally. |

 | Scientians. We must not let Sadsad harass our school life any longer. We must act now, I'am just a freshman of the SY2009-2010 but as I've said.... I've read every single scientian blog that exsisted. And most of the were about Sadsad and her wrong doings. Others were about daily scientian lives and the rest where insults on either Sadsad or fellow Scientians.
But, As the ScientiaEtVirtus.multiply.com account said "SadSad" is our only obstacle in our pursuit of excellence.
And I for one agree.
She is like our late president Ferdinand Marcos and is acting like a clone of Gloria mixed all together to form a new evil.
Like Ferdinand Marcos... she is destroying the area wherein she is an authority just to keep her position.
But like Arroyo... SHE IS SHAMELESSLY ABUSING POWER THAT SEEKS TO DESTROY OUR SACRED SCHOOL LAWS.
|
 | Amen!
But I hope that if she does do her thang again (probably on F-Hour), you'll support whatever will be done.
Salamat nga pala sa suporta! |
